Shenyang Normal University is affiliated to the People ’s Government of Liaoning Province and was founded in 1951. It was formerly known as Northeast Education College. In 1953, it was renamed Shenyang Teachers College and was one of the first two undergraduate teachers colleges founded in the Northeast at that time. The institute was renamed Liaoning No. 1 Normal University in 1965. The name of Shenyang Normal University was restored in 1978. In 2002, the provincial government decided and the Ministry of Education approved the name. Shenyang Normal University and Liaoning Education College merged to form Shenyang Normal University.
